Fri 28 Feb 2025 19:00 - 22:00 at Meeting Rooms 317-318 - Tutorial

This tutorial will provide complete lessons that integrate computing history into existing computing courses. These lessons will support common learning outcomes for those courses using historical examples. Participants will be able to work through the provided examples and tune them to their course’s needs. Courses which will be included are Data Networking, Databases, Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and possibly others. Participants will come away with fully-ready lessons that can be used in their computing course. Each lesson is expected to be approximately 50 minutes or longer in length and focus on the history related to each computing topic and support learning of course objectives. These lessons are designed to give students an appreciation of the breath of computing history, how it relates to what they are learning, and to understand the heritage we share in computing.
