How Do I Review This? Data Reviewing Practices in the Computing Education Research CommunityHybrid
This program is tentative and subject to change.
Computer science education research usually encompassed the collection and analysis of data to create and evaluate novel tools or methodologies. In most cases, this involves software, IT infrastructure, learner data, or data-driven approaches. However, research data (particularly software) does not yet play a crucial role in the publication process. This is due to several reasons, such as the lack of established practices for data maturity, resources, and page limitations within the context of conference publications. Another challenge is the absence of guidelines for reviewers on how to review research data. This special session intends to address these issue, and to discuss pathways for reviewing research data in the SIGCSE community and respective conferences. The audience will be invited to contribute to the discussion by elaborating on realistic options to review data. The goal of the special session is thus to interact with the community (and potential reviewers) to design feasible review guidelines.
