Bio:

Nannette Napier is a clinical professor of Computer Information Systems (CIS). She received a bachelor’s in Computer Science from Spelman College, a bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, and a doctorate in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University.

Her research interests include the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL), broadening participation in computing and action research. She has secured over $70,000 in external funding to increase the recruitment and retention of under-represented students in computing. These programs include a summer technology camp for middle and high school students, a Saturday STEM enrichment program for middle school girls and a Women in Technology programming boot camp for undergraduates.

She worked for Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) for 15 years where she held a variety of administrative roles, including associate dean, AACSB coordinator and assistant dean for faculty development. In recognition of her accomplishments at GGC, she was honored as USG Governor’s Teaching Fellow (2013), GGC Outstanding Student Engagement Faculty Award (2014), Top Claw Award (2016) and School of Business Pedagogical Research Award (2017). She also worked professionally as a senior software engineer for nearly a decade.
