Name:Angus Donald Campbell
Bio:

I am a designer, educator, researcher, consultant and leader with a desire to creatively and practically improve our complex interconnected world.

I am the Head of the Design Programme in the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries at Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland. I have a Doctorate in Development Studies and a Masters in Industrial Design. Originally from South Africa, I worked for 18 years as a design academic at the University of Johannesburg before moving to Aotearoa, New Zealand, over three years ago. My university lecturing, practice-based design research and consulting experience is passionately focused on critically exploring the power of Design to creatively, collaboratively and sustainably innovate at the complex nexus of social, technological and ecological systems. My work focuses on creative social and technological innovation. My approach is one of participatory and pluriversal design, considered from positions of Development, the Global South, inequality, Indigenous knowledge systems and Decolonisation. I aspire to support resilient local futures through collaboratively developing appropriate technologies, circular economies and sustainable food systems.
